There is a big competition for release dates and the 6 major holidays are the most coveted release dates. Every year studios and producers fight for the coveted release dates falling on Eid which is most lucrative, followed by diwali than Christmas , the first friday after IPL ,Independence day and Republic day . All the major stars book these release dates 1 to 2 years in advance and that is why most awaited bollywood movies also release on these 6 days. In fact all the major clashes also happen on these 6 days.
Why are Bollywood Movies Released on Friday
Fridays are Followed by Weekends which are holidays in most places and so leads to better opening at box office.
Fridays are said to be the day of Goddess Lakshmi so by releasing on Friday Producers hope to get more wealth from there movies
Screening Fee that Producers have to pay to multiplexes is lowest on Friday
